*** Items ***

- Some items from the Seeds of Destruction expansion have had right-click effects added to them. Additionally, the power of some of the clicks on the highest end Secrets of Faydwer items has increased slightly.
- Air, Earth, Fire, Ice and Prismaridescent essences can now be combined with inert cores and core gearing kits in re-gearing kits to make steam or gyro cores. The inert cores are sold by Automated Vending Unit V in Dragonscale Hills. Additionally, the re-gearing kits have been reduced in price.

*** Spells ***

- The Wizard's Mindfreeze spell should properly trigger procs from the Mana Recursion line.

*** Tradeskills ***

- Old buff poisons have had their contact ability moved to the same slot as the current new poisons. This is intended to make them no longer stack.
- Poisons have had a small change to make them slightly harder for NPCs to resist. The PvP resist rate remains the same.
- Rogue only DPS Poisons have had their hate reduced further.

*** Raids ***

- The basepop in the Mansion raid instance is now locked to the raid events. Most NPCs near raid bosses will not re-appear in the zone if that boss doesn't spawn.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- New titles are now available for players who have done exceptionally well in the group version of the Dragons, Dragons, Dragons event.
- Raised the cap on combat abilities to 200. This fixes an issue that was causing some individuals to be unable to learn new melee abilities from tomes.
- Fixed a problem with the voice chat bar that caused it to re-appear every time you zoned if voice was enabled.
- You can now scribe up to 90 pages worth of spells in your spellbook.
- Made various fixes to pet commands that were allowed or disallowed incorrectly.
- Clicking on your pet's target in the pet info window now targets your pet's target.

*** Highlights ***

- A new window has been implemented that appears when you log in to the game. It is designed as a portal to display information pertinent to your character and the EQ community as a whole. This screen will be updated regularly with EverQuest information.
- The Luminescent and Incandescent Culling Vortexes available from Zebuxoruk in The Void can now transform a higher-level Luminessence or Incandessence into a lower-level version with the addition of one chronobine. They retain their prior use in removing essences from armor as well.

*** Highlights ***

- EQ's 10th Anniversary celebrations continues. All the raid events will remain until May 25th. Lower Guk and Unrest group encounters kicked off on the 11th and end on the 25th as well. Enjoy the rest of the celebrations!

*** Items ***

- Added a missing heal focus to the Protective Gorget of the Deep.
- Added Improved Parry/Block to several neck items that were missing it.
- Applied new icons to the Beastlord epic 1.0 (Claws of the Savage Spirit).
- Changed the displayed solvent on many destroyable augments to make it clear that they can be dissolved by the Augmentation Solvent.
- Irae Faycite Shard: Ethereal Enhancement, Irae Faycite Shard: Klixcxyk's and Icesheet Casc., Irae Faycite Shard: Ethereal Burn and Irae Faycite Shard: Inizen's and Glacial Collapse should now properly focus the intended spells. A change has been made to all similar foci that should prevent a similar problem in the future.

*** Spells ***

- Triggered PC spells with large dummy values in cast time have had that time reduced or removed.

*** AAs ***

- The Berserker AAs Blur of Axes and Precision of Axes have been increased in power.
- The Shadow Knight AA "Cascading Theft of Life" has been renamed "Cascading Theft of Defense" to better fit its function.
- Harmonious arrow now correctly assigns hate to its user.

*** Raids ***

- Added Fractured Coeval Luminessence and Fractured Coeval Incandessence as a chance to drop from the chest that the mini bosses in discord tower drop. This also reduces the chance for stat and weapon augments from this chest.

*** Tradeskills ***

- The first set of changes to poison have been made. Strike of Ssraeshza poisons have a 10 second recast on them. Bite of the Shissar, Strike of the Shissar, Solusek's Burn and E'ci's Lament Poison remove about half the hate they give on each strike. Quellious' Trauma removes about half the hate it did before. Quellious' Trauma, Myrmidon's Sloth, Messenger's Bane, Fighter's Bane, Warlord's Bane, Archer's Bane and Monk's Bane have had their "proc count" increased so they last longer.
- Messenger's Bane poisons will properly snare their target rather than giving them a speed boost.
- The recipe for Thundering Blades Rk. II has been disabled. It should not yet be able to be created.

*** Pets ***

- Fixed some typos in the pet help window.
- Fixed some problems with hot-keyed commands not displaying their state correctly.
- A new "regroup" command has been added. This command is very similar to "stop" except when using "regroup" the pet will not only stop attacking, but will revert to either follow or guard depending on what is selected. This essentially mimics the old "hold" behavior. "Regroup" and "stop" are mutually exclusive. If you use "regroup" both sit and stop should turn off. If you use "stop" then "regroup" should turn off.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Campfire summoning has been turned on for the following zones (note that all usual restrictions apply): Crystallos, Mansion, Qinimi, and Tipt.
- Guild Banner summoning has been turned on for the following zones (note that all usual restrictions apply): Uqua, Tacvi, Qinimi, Tipt, Anguish, Demiplane of Blood, Deathknell - Tower of Dissonance, Crystallos (both normal and raid), Mansion (both normal and raid), Discord Raid and Discord Tower Raid.
- Fixed a problem that was causing voice chat volume sliders to get stuck on the screen.
- Revamped the way guild information is stored on the server to get around limitations on the maximum number of guilds. Some servers were hitting the max.
- Fixed a problem with raid dumps that were made when the raid window was not visible.
- The voice chat bar is now visible on login if your voice chat is active.
- Fixed a problem with bard focuses that caused Singing and Instrument mastery to not work if the song was otherwise not focused by any item or effect.
- Fixed a problem with guild creation that was causing it to fail when you tried to create a guild with a name whose beginning was a subset of an existing guild (e.g. creating "Killer" when "Killers in the Mist" already existed).
- Fixed an issue with displayed ordering of marketplace items.

*** UI ***

- Added some new item icons for future use.

*** Quests & Events ***

- After reviewing the difficulty curve of the Dragons players fight in the "Dragons, Dragons, Dragons" raid we determined that it made more sense for players to fight the mighty Dragon Vishimtar *after* the dragons of Relic, rather than before. The event has been modified to reflect this.
- Corrected some issues with the teleportation script for the Dragons, Dragons, Dragons raid in PoK. You should now be able to correctly teleport to all zones linked to this task from PoK (it was previously working from inside the instances but not always working in PoK).
- The expansion requirement for the "Dragons, Dragons, Dragons" event has been removed.
- The Anniversary Scavenger Hunt events were not updated to end at the same time as the other Fabled events. This has been corrected and they will all follow the same schedule in the future.

*** Previously Updated ***

- Reduced the area that the Militia Enforcers will check for scoundrels working for the Poison Masters in Freeport.

- New types of Defiant armor have made their appearance across Norrath.
- Modified the Required and Recommended levels of the “Pet Proc” weapons from Fabled Planes of Power to be consistent. The Required level is now 75 for all of these items and the recommended level is now 79 for all of these items.
- The Brell's Party Plans book gives a bit more information about how to make the woven basket.
- Irae Faycite Shard: Tjudawos' Chant of Flame and and Irae Faycite Shard: Zeixshi-Kar's Chant of Frost have been changed to increase the duration of their respective spells by 1 tick instead of increasing their damage. Their names have been changed to “Durus” to match other Type 3 augs of similar effects.
- Modified the the naming of bard type 3 augs to be consistent with other type 3 augs.
- Removed all casting times and mana cost from Earthen Mud so it will proc for classes without mana (and not consume mana of those with it.)

*** Spells ***

*** NPCs ***

- Fixed a bug that could cause the Fabled Tribal Leader Diseranon to stop spawning in Vegarlson, the Earthen Badlands.

- The Advanced Pet Discipline AA and Animation Empathy AAs have been modified to match the new pet control functionality.
- Modified all 3 ranks of the Monk AA Five Point Palm to properly credit the Monk who used the Five Point Palm ability with the damage that results from this effect. You should now see a damage message, etc, indicating that the target took damage from the Player that cast the spell, rather than having the target of the AA silently do damage to themselves.
- Removed the Endurance cost from the Monk AA lines Eye Gouge, Stunning Kick, and Crippling Strike. <br>

*** Zones ***

- Guild Banner summoning has been turned on for Solteris (note that all usual restrictions apply).<br>

*** Pets ***

- Guard and follow are on separate buttons again. Guard and follow states are independent of stop and sit. Stop and sit are overrides for guard and follow. Pressing guard or follow when stop or sit are engaged will automatically turn them off.
- Changed the behavior of the stop command. It is now a toggle-able state. When activated, your pet will stand still and stop attacking, but remember who it hates. Stop can be turned off manually, or is automatically turned off whenever follow, guard, attack, qattack, or back off are used.
- Added the greater hold state (ghold). Greater hold is granted by pet discipline. It works very much like regular hold except that regular hold allows opponents to be added to the pet's hate list when the pet already has opponents on its list. Greater hold only allows NPCs you specifically add via attack or qattack to be added to its hate list. Hold and ghold are mutually exclusive.
- Pet help has been updated with the new information about these changes.<br>

*** Class Titles ***

- In order to correct some inconsistencies with many players' perception of class roles compared to their intended roles we have renamed the classes. We hope that the new names will help alleviate any confusion there might have been about their intended roles and class vision. We’ve also modified the various class titles as they change over levels in order to more accurately portray their progression through the game.<br>

*** Highlights ***

- Pet hold can now be used with charmed pets again (as long as the owner has the AA).

- Put separators back into raid window. Separators will now appear between sorting groups for all sorting criteria except for "by name."

*** Quests & Events ***

- Added a default "Hail" dialog to each kill target in the Justice of the Tribunal 10th Anniversary task that will let you re-engage if you already hailed that NPC but failed to kill him.

*** NPC ***

- Modified the spawn rates of several NPCs in Fabled PoP that drop the "Swarm Pet" Weapons to normalize the rate that they appear. Most spawn rates were increased but some were reduced that were appearing too frequently.

*** Tradeskills ***

- Fixed the broken coffin poison bottle. Now it can make any NORMAL poison combine as well as the original coffin bottle combines.
- The following spell research recipes now create a duplicate (tradable) scroll instead of the original (no-drop) scroll. For real this time! Skill: Champion's Aura, Skill: Poison Spikes Trap, Skill: Master's Aura, Skill: Bloodlust Aura, Spell: Blessed Aura, Spell: Decrepit Skin, Spell: Aura of the Muse, Spell: Elddar's Grasp, Spell: Puratus, Spell: Moonshadow, Spell: Ghost of Renewal, Spell: Mind Shatter, Spell: Chaos Flame, Spell: Iceflame Guard, Spell: Mind Flay, and Spell: Spirit of Oroshar.

*** Pets ***

- Pet hold can now be used with charmed pets again (as long as the owner has the AA).
- Now only PC pets will display their owner's name under them.
- Telling your pet to attack another target when focus is turned on will now cause it to switch targets and focus exclusively on the new target.
- Fixed a bug where telling your pet to attack a new target when focus is turned on would fail if the pet hated the new target the most already (even if the new target was not already its target).
- Casting swarm pets or familiars should no longer disrupt the state of the buttons on your pet window when you already have a normal pet up.
- Pet target hit points are now updated even if you are not targeting the pet's target.
- Fixed several other bugs that were causing the buttons in the pet window to become out of sync with the server or to reset upon zoning.
- Qattack will now only change the pet's target if the pet did not already have a target. This is contrasted with the regular attack command which will force the pet to change targets (if focused or not). Qattack now simply adds the target NPC to the pet's hate list, so that it will attack that target at a later time when its other targets are dead.

*** UI ***

- Put separators back into raid window. Separators will now appear between sorting groups for all sorting criteria except for "by name."
- When sorting by group, empty slots should always be shown after filled slots for each group. Also group leaders should always be at the top of each group.

*** Highlights ***

- Guild Creation Tool: Players can now get their guilds created in-game by using the Guild Management window. When opening the Guild Management Window (Alt + G) when you are not in a guild, you will be asked if you would like to create one. All existing guild naming rules still apply. Only one guild is permitted per server per account. Guilds cannot be created while in a shroud.

- Pet Window Improvements: The functionality of the Pet Window has been improved by allowing players to customize each button individually. These changes also allow players to add commands that they pick up via AAs. We've also added some new commands including a pet hold command. (See UI: Pet Window Improvements below)

- Enhanced Raid Window: We've updated the raid management window to allow for sorting and expedition / shared task management improvements. Also added AFK, dead, and out of zone status. (See UI: Enhanced Raid Window below)

*** Items ***

- The Twincast Self Buff spells are no longer focused by duration extension focuses.

*** Tradeskills ***

- Fixed a bug with the Pure sealed power-sources made via tradeskills. They were opening one tier behind where they should (so the Tier 1 took Tier 2 raid to open.) They should now open properly with the proper tier of content.
- Fixed an issue with Dull, Murky and Foggy Sealed Energeian Orbs that could prevent them from opening properly.
- The following spells created by spell research now create a duplicate scroll instead of the original scroll. The original scrolls are now no trade. This does mean that you may have a no trade version currently, unfortunately there is no reasonable solution for a refund that is not able to allow players to create infinite scrolls. This change is intended to prevent players from creating infinite scrolls for free. Skill: Champion's Aura, Skill: Poison Spikes Trap, Skill: Master's Aura, Skill: Bloodlust Aura, Spell: Blessed Aura, Spell: Decrepit Skin, Spell: Aura of the Muse, Spell: Elddar's Grasp, Spell: Puratus, Spell: Moonshadow, Spell: Ghost of Renewal, Spell: Mind Shatter, Spell: Chaos Flame, Spell: Iceflame Guard, Spell: Mind Flay, and Spell: Spirit of Oroshar.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Made various zone stability improvements.

*** UI: General ***

- Enhanced the Raid Window. (See UI: Enhanced Raid Window)
- The Pet Window has received a revamp! (See UI: Pet Window Improvements)
- Added chat window text output for users being invited to raids even when the raid confirmation popup is turned on.

- For custom UI creators, ListboxColumns can now have their own tooltips instead of just the Listbox.

- Pet target will be displayed under your pets hp bar so you will always know who your pet is attacking.
- Added toggleable buttons throughout the pet UI for sit/stand, follow/guard, focus, hold, taunt, and spell hold.
- Added new pet text based commands. You will now be able to toggle all states off or on, or simply toggle the state with a pet text based command. For example, /pet focus on, /pet focus off, and /pet focus.
- Added a new pet attack command to switch your pet to attack the new target regardless of AA's or level; great for new and low level players. The old command will still exist as qattack.
- Added a pet hold functionality.
- New pet focus + pet hold functionality (call this pet state "pet convergence" ). Now, when you turn on both the focus and hold states, your pet will attack SPECIFICALLY what you want it to and when finished won't attack or aggro or do anything else.
- Improved /pet back off. Fully clears the hate list and stops your pet from doing whatever it was doing before.
- Pet follow is now on by default when entering zones.
- Added the pet owner's name below the pet name text (i.e., "Soandso's pet").
- When right clicking a pet button, commands not available to you are filtered out.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Bard instrument mods are now using the focus system. All bard instruments now have a focus effect that amounts to the same bonus the instrument was getting previously. The display is somewhat different. As an example, prior to this change, a percussion mod of 28 was a 2.8x multiplier on effects. This will now be displayed as a focus effect like "Percussion Resonance 18" that gives a 180% boost to percussion. This is equivalent to the original 2.8x multiplier.
- Bard songs can now be capped individually and a system has been put in place to allow much better scaling of bard song effects and focuses in the future.
- Fixed an issue where players were getting kill credit even though they did not out-damage NPCs that were attacking the mob.
- Eye of Zomm can now be cast while on a mount.
- Fixed some issues with players being unable to get out of water when they have low swimming skill.
- Recast shader should now be visible in the potion belt window.
- Fixed a few bugs dealing with corpse targeting using the group window.
- Added a hover over "percentage" tooltip to the AA Exp bar in the inventory window.
- Made some changes to the code introduced in the last live update that reset your spell timers when a spell fails to land.
- Fixed an issue where pet buffs would appear to be counting down while in the guild lobby.
- Some versions of Zebuxoruk will now sell Temporal Polymorphic Cells. These cells will transform a Luminescence to an Incandescence and vice versa.
- Tavid Dennant in the guild lobby has a limited amount of items that players can use to alter their Seeds of Destruction Armor. He does not sell these like the quest items he holds, but will give them to you if you talk to him about [items].
- Zebuxoruk now sells purity augments for chronobines.
- Fixed a problem with shared banks that caused items to be lost on the Firiona Vie server (mostly).
- Buffs that have a levitation effect are no longer stripped when you enter zones marked as no-levitate. When you enter a no-levitate zone, you will receive a message that the levitation effect has been disabled. Additional effects provided by the buffs (if any) will remain enabled. This means that levitation buffs that have other effects connected to them (i.e. Spirit of the Eagle's speed boost effect) can now be used in a no-levitate zone.
- Fixed a problem with reagent preservation focuses that cause them to only preserve one reagent instead of preserving all the reagents requires for the spell if it required more than one. This specifically fixes the problem with Axe of the Eradicator.

*** UI ***

- Made some significant changes to the way buffs are sent to the client to fix a slew of bugs and commonize things with the target buff window.

- Added timed mercenary debug logging. If you submit a /bug with type Mercenaries or use /merclog, the next 20 seconds of actions and decisions made by your mercenary will be logged. Please use /bug to describe what you perceive the problem is, so we can determine what we're looking at with the log.
- Changed PvP calculations so that mercenaries being hit from PCs or other mercenaries take full damage with no mitigation, avoidance or resist checks. They also no longer resist stuns from PCs or other mercenaries.
- Fixed a bug that was causing corpses to poof with no experience if a mercenary whose owner was dead in hover mode was the first on the hate list (it didn't necessarily have to do the most damage).

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Enabled the environmental sound toggle on ambient sounds in the following zones: Abysmal Sea, Ashengate, Direwind, Dreadspire (and Demi-Plane of Blood), Ikkinz, Lavastorm Mountains, Kod'Taz, Tipt, and Vxed. The Master still commands his orchestra, however.

- Fixed a bug that left pets in the world when you kicked yourself off when logging in.
- Your LFG flag will no longer drop when you change your group role with a mercenary in the group.

- AA points banked are now limited to 30 even when you are shrouded.

** Login ***

- Fixed an issue that was causing the kick request prompt to disappear after 5 seconds and default to accept the kick request of a player logging in with the same account.
- Added an option in the general options page to allow a player to set their client to automatically accept kick requests from others logging in with the same account. This is helpful for those that might frequently play from two locations. They can set their clients to automatically accept their kick request (without this option set, your client will default to denying the request).

*** UI ***

- Added a toggle to turn off the new left click camera functionality.
- Fixed a bug that caused potions to not grey out when they had a recast timer under certain circumstances.

Happy Holidays from the EverQuest Team!

- A Frosty Experience Bonus: To help them celebrate the season of Frostfell, adventurers will be surrounded by a frosty bonus experience increase of twenty-five percent starting with Tuesday, December 23, 2008. The frosty bonus experience will remain until the end of Frostfell, Tuesday January 6, 2009. Enjoy the holidays!

- Fan Faire Workshop Quests: At the 2008 SOE Fan Faire in Las Vegas, several EverQuest players got a chance to participate in a Quest Workshop where members of the EQ Development team walked them through the quest creation process. The following quests have been implemented this update:

Gyrospire Relocator: Researcher Stripcog has unearthed a device that will allow a being to teleport to the top of each of the gyrospires. Unfortunately, he needs the assistance of others to help get the device working again. This quest was implemented with the assistance of Shadowkiller of Stromm, Ledau of Prexus, and Brasse, Cheremoya, Palarran, Starrla, Xapp, Sumdaye and Numayre from The Tribunal.

Kicking Tail: Scribe Choone’s party, attempting to help Choone research a story for Gimblefixx, was ambushed and nearly wiped out, save Scribe Choone himself. Choone wants the players to thin out the minotaur warriors enough for his mission to continue, and especially to kill the big mean taskmaster known as Higoren. See Scribe Choone in Dragonscale Hills to find out more. This quest was implemented with the assistance of Hellbent of Firiona Vie, Nizgog, Aroraskie, Indico, and Rigss of Erollisi Marr, and Hulkling of The Tribunal.

- Improved linkdead Recovery: We've decreased the amount of time linkdead players will have to wait to log back in because of a stuck character.

- Improved camera control: We added the ability to rotate the 3rd person camera (the one you get when you use the mousewheel) using the left mouse button. This allows you to move the camera around your character without rotating the character. This is very similar to the way 3rd person cameras work in many other games.

- Hot Zone Tasks: In addition to reminding players about the current Hot Zones, Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge now offers tasks for the most recent Hot Zones.

- TSS Flag Requirements Removed: Removed the flag requirements for The Serpent Spine (TSS) expansion raids to enter the raid zones as long as you are level 74 or higher. The person requesting the raids will still be required to have the proper flags to request the raid.

- SoF Crystal Drops Increased: Increased the number of Oil Stained Crystals that are dropped at the conclusion of the final event in Meldrath’s Mansion from six to twelve.

- Lesson of the Devoted Improved: The Veteran AA Lesson of the Devoted will no longer be removed by death.

- Bard Type 3 Augments: Added Bard type 3 augments to SoF and SoD faction vendors.

- Weapon Ratio Changes: Some of the Seeds of Destruction (SoD) group weapons had their ratios further tweaked. This is a completion of some previous changes that didn’t quite make last Update.

- New Icons for the Original Epics: With the newly discovered old set of icons, we gave the original epic 1.0s their intended art (for the original 1.0 epics that had one made).

- Physical Resist Changes: Made tuning adjustments (downward) on many NPCs that had higher-than-expected resistances to Physical Attacks (Such as the Monk Eye Gouge attack). These attacks should be much more reliable now.

- Puratus, Fulkitcher Weave, and Cantata of Courage spells should now work properly.
- Bards will no longer have their mana drained by the spell Mana Ignite, though they should still take damage from the spell.

- Fixed an issue that was causing some mobs in Old Bloodfield to despawn unexpectedly.

- The Fan Faire quest Gyrospire Relocation has been implemented. Find Researcher Stripcog in Mechanotus for more information.
- In addition to reminding players about the current Hot Zones, Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge is pleased to once again offer tasks that take place in these zones.
- The Old Bloodfields quest called "Deliver the Message" is now a shared task. We also fixed issues that could cause it to fail to update.

- The Kaesora raid will now reset after 15 minutes or if all council members are idle.
- The Ritualists in the second phase of the Kithicor raid will no longer damage the storyline NPCs while they are idle. It should still be necessary to engage the correct group of ritualists shortly after the message: “A dark energy begins to build to the *direction* of the combatants.” However, it should no longer be necessary to engage all of them simultaneously.
- The area near the entrance doorway will no longer be a safe spot during the Mindblight raid.

*** AA ***

- The Veteran AA Lesson of the Devoted will no longer be removed by death.
- The Enchanter AA Self Stasis should be more reliable at removing players from combat as they enter stasis.

*** Mercenaries ***

- Added a new /merclog command that logs information for the player's mercenary (if they have one) to MercenaryAILog.txt. This command can only be executed once per minute. Also, added a new "mercenaries" bug type to the /bug window. Any bugs submitted with this type also generates the MercenaryAILog.txt file (if the player owns a merc and the merc is not dead/suspended).
- Unshrouding should no longer require an upgrade cost in cases where you have not gained a level.
- Fixed an issue that caused a healer mercenary not to heal you if you temporarily interrupted the incoming damage (say, with weapon shield).

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Improved linkdead recovery: We've decreased the amount of time linkdead players will have to wait to log back in because of a stuck character.
- If you attempt to login to the world when that account is already logged in, you will now be prompted as to whether you wish to kick off the currently logged in player. The logged in player (if it is truly logged in and not link dead) will be prompted whether they wish to allow themselves to be kicked off.
- When going linkdead in combat, a 30 second delay is enforced before the kick is executed.
- When going linkdead while out of combat a 5 second delay is enforced before the kick is executed.
- Improved camera control: We added the ability to rotate the 3rd person camera (the one you get when you use the mousewheel) using the left mouse button. This allows you to move the camera around your character without rotating the character. This is very similar to the way 3rd person cameras work in many other games.
- Corrected an issue that prevented further purchases after opening a Consigned Armor Bundle in the marketplace.
- Corrected an error message if an account does not have a credit card on file for the marketplace.
- Modifications have been made to messaging in order to remove the redundancy of messages popping up for funding the wallet.

- Adjusted the nomenclature for some SoF items with corruption damage foci. The focus percentages did not change, only the names.

- Dropdown category for Spell Damage and Haste combination songs is now "Haste/Spell Focus" instead of either or both.

- The hate reduction effect from Mindfreeze should no longer have stacking issues with other effects, including the Bazu Bellow line.
- The Malo and Tash lines should no longer interfere with out of combat regeneration.
- The Necromancer SoF robe clicky now spawns a short duration pet instead of bestowing casting haste. Higher tier versions of the click increase the pet's lifespan.

- The Wizard SoF robe clicky will now work on higher level spells, albeit at a reduced effectiveness.
- Type 3 augmentation bonuses should no longer benefit additional spells. For example: Icesheet Cascade / Klixcxyk's Fire improving the damage of Ethereal Conflagration.

- Fixed a bug with Captain Tillin in Oceangreen Hills. He will now always give out his tasks in order.

- The Seeds of Destruction Quest buy back merchant now uses Chronobines instead of Doubloons. He will also buy any of his quest items from you for 1 Chronobine.

- Adjusted the spell casting range of Fog of Memories (Enchanter AA).

- Re-enabled the SoD AA Extended Ingenuity. Bards, Monks, Warriors, Rogues and Berserkers will now be able to purchase this AA.
- The AA Fortified Entanglement (Wizard) now requires the purchase of Hastened Root 4 to resolve a conflict between these two AAs, making your roots less reliable if you had not purchased both.

- The Ranger AA Hastened Trueshot will now focus the Sureshot Discipline.
- The Rogue AA Sleight of Hand should now stack with the Envenomed Blades AA.
- Veil of Mindshadow spells will now have a wear off message.

*** Zones ***

- Replaced the missing door on the merchant vs. merchant ship instances in the Buried Sea.
- Savet Ironstove now properly advertises what he sells.

*** Mercenaries ***

- Healer mercenaries will give less priority to healing shamen that are not flagged as the main tank role and that are not being directly attacked. This should allow them to be a bit friendlier with regards to cannibalize.
- Mercenaries should be friendlier to feign splitting techniques. If the puller feigns in camp before the merc has a chance to react, the merc will not attack the mobs hostile only to the puller.
- Mercenaries will no longer attack enemies that are currently engaging targets outside their group (or group's pets).
- The camp radius now scales somewhat dynamically in that if your group is widely spaced, the radius around the group's center considered "in camp" to the AI is increased to avoid a situation where you've pulled an NPC past one of the group's members, but the AI still does not react to it. The minimum camp radius from group center is still 50feet as it was before.
- Healer mercenaries will no longer cast heal spells on themselves that have an invulnerability component, as the AI was never tuned to do this at the right time, and it leads to problems with the mercs appearing to be unresponsive.
- Increased the timer for how often a merc will attempt to resurrect a corpse when the res is not accepted from 2 minutes to 5 minutes.
- The ability to suspend/un-suspend a mercenaries is now locked when in combat and when the player still has a cool-down timer on PvP servers. For standard rule servers, the cool-down timer still does not factor into this, suspend/un-suspend can be done immediately after the hatelist is cleared.
- Tank mercenaries will now default to following their owner (or group) when there are no melee targets even when in combat.
- Mercenary Clerics should no longer cast their spell haste buff on classes that have no mana.
- Mercenaries now appear with a ':' before their name in the tracking window, similar to pets.
- Fixed a bug that allowed a mercenary to keep the effects of an aura permanently after the aura was no longer present.
- Fixed a problem that caused some players that zoned slowly to not be able to unsuspend their mercenary after they zoned.
- Mercenary healers will now only dispel buffs on enemies when in aggressive stance. Since aggressive stance isn't currently in the game (though it may return at some point) healer mercs will no longer be dispelling for now.
- Mercenaries should no longer become bald after various illusions.
- Added a new "Assist" stance for Journeyman and above tank mercs that allows them to operate in essentially a DPS mode. If the tank merc is in Assist stance and not designated the main tank it will not use any off-tanking behavior like it does when in Aggressive stance. It will attack whatever the main assist is targeting (or whatever it last attacked it there is no main assist) and continue to do so until the main assist switches targets. If in Assist mode and designated the main tank the tank merc should behave the same as it does in Aggressive stance.
- Fixed a problem where if you had maxed out your buff slots, healer mercenaries would no longer heal you.
- Fixed a problem that caused the AI to be blind to damage taken from certain spells like Blood Magic or Divine Arbitration.
- Fixed a problem where mercenaries were counting toward the hit limit for rain type spells, causing them to have fewer pulses when in the area of effect.
- Merc healers will no longer cure charmed pets.
- Mercenary "in camp" radius is no longer a sphere. It is now more of a disc to help with problems of mercs healing, etc. when a puller is on a floor above or below.

*** Seeds of Destruction ***

Welcome to EverQuest Seeds of Destruction, the 15th expansion for EverQuest!

A new rift has opened in the Plane of Time. This rift leads to a bleak prophecy of the end of existence. The world of Norrath lies in ruins. The planet has shattered into millions of shards, spinning in a silent void around the rapidly blackening star of Ro.

In the wreckage on a small shard of the world, a lone figure sits quietly tending a small seedling growing between the rocks. The lone figure is none other than the fallen god Zebuxoruk.

Zebuxoruk is certainly insane, but has a unique insight into the current state of the world and possibly might hold the knowledge to guide adventurers in the quest to prevent the destruction of Norrath. Only he can direct adventurers towards specific moments in time where the armies of Discord were able to disrupt the timeline.

If they are able to stop the forces of Discord, the destruction in The Void will slowly be repaired. If not, all hope will be lost.

- Level Cap Increase: Players can now achieve level 85. New high level item sets, new Alternate Advancement ability lines, new spells, and new skill caps come with this increase.

- New Content: New themed realms for adventurers to explore including Oceangreen, Bloody Kithicor, Field of Bone, Invasion of Earth, Kuua, and Discord. Travel through the rift in Time solo, with a group, or in raids to complete new quests, tasks, and events to acquire new items, spells, tradeskill recipes, and abilities.

- Mercenaries: Mercenaries are NPCs for hire that will aid adventurers in their heroic endeavors. Their levels and abilities will scale appropriately and they will think and act for themselves with limited player guidance. They are designed for extra support or extra muscle in PvE encounters.

Unlike player pets, these NPCs are not directly controllable by players, though the player can give them general orders. They function like a normal party member including taking up a group slot and taking a share of the experience.

Mercenary Liaisons can be found in the Plane of Knowledge as well as all starting cities and will allow you to hire mercenaries based on their race. The Liaisons within the Plane of Knowledge will allow you to hire mercenaries of any player race. These merchants can be found using the Find ability.

Before purchasing a mercenary be sure to read the descriptions, cost value, and restrictions. There are different levels and tiers available. Some mercenaries may not available until you have completed certain content but there are some apprentice and journeyman ones available to all.

Mercenares have a one-time hire cost and an upkeep cost that is charged every 15 minutes. The hire cost is usually much higher than the upkeep cost.

There are two classes of Mercenaries available - Tank and Healer.

Healer Mercenary: Healer mercenaries prefer to heal and buff their owner and others in the group rather than engage directly in combat. These mercenaries can also resurrect players upon death.

Tank Mercenary: Tank mercenaries prefer to melee. They will taunt if it is set to the main tank role. Though it will still attack and behave as a secondary tank if it is not set as main tank.

If your group has someone with the puller role, mercenaries will only assist them when they and any NPCs chasing them are near camp. Any mercenary owned by the puller will stay back with the group.

Like pets, mercenaries will not aggro NPCs on their own.

Mercenaries can be suspended like a pet, though they will remain suspended forever or until you dismiss them. Mercenaries will be suspended automatically when entering most raid zones. They must also be suspended before you join a raid.

If your mercenary dies, it can be revived after five minutes with an additional upkeep charge.

Some mercenaries may not think your gold is worth them risking their life. Those with higher confidence in themselves will cost more money.

*** Live Highlights ***

Out of all the submissions, Khyandys Aramyndan of the Altruistic Valorians guild on the Erollisi Marr server was selected as the winner for EverQuest! The Tides of Anachronism

All across Norrath and beyond, the boundaries between past and present and between parallel realities seem to be fraying.

Within the normally peaceful Plane of Knowledge, three heralds of Druzzil Ro entered the realm; bringing warnings of troubled and dangerous times ahead.

"Danger has arrived! Our time is very short! Time is ticking and our doom may have arrived! As it passes, time takes with it portions of our lives. Well, your lives. And now it threatens to take all of our lives. Powers of chaos and destruction are taking their time, taking our time! Go quickly, time is so very short."

Meanwhile, over in the Dreadlands, a retired scholar named Deckarn Mystglade is seeking someone to help keep him from losing his mind.

A few years back when the Plane of Time was first breached by Norrathian adventurers, Deckarn warned his fellow scholars that interfering with the realm of time would only lead to disaster. After continuously trying to prophesize his unproven theories, he was forcibly requested to retire. Since then, Deckarn has been a bit unsure of anything around him.

Over the past few weeks, Deckarn has been feeling a strange shift in time and began to have visions of epic battles, re-building, corruption, decay, and war. Uncertain of himself, he needs someone to investigate the mysterious occurrences in his visions to confirm that he isn’t going insane.

Curious adventurers begin to travel to the Plane of Knowledge and the Dreadlands to hear the rumors first hand.

*** Spells ***

- Tears of Qandieal and similar spells can now only be cast on NPCs to address a stability issue. The ability to use it against players will return with our next code update.

*** Upcoming UI Changes ***

- Message to custom UI users: With the next Game Update, we will be releasing several extensive changes to the User Interface (UI). Some of these changes can currently be found on the Test Server and additional changes may be released throughout the week. *** Highlights ***

- Station Voice: Station Voice is a voice chat service powered by Vivox and included with certain SOE game subscriptions. Station Voice allows players to talk person-to-person in-game at no additional cost. Players can go far beyond basic real-time chat with the usual headset and microphone setup that is commonly used today, and will be able to access a suite of voice communication tools.

Upcoming features are scheduled to include voice mail, the ability to receive external calls, and voice fonts to synthesize player voices into in-game character voices. Station Voice will be hosted and managed on the Vivox Network. Game software and headsets sold separately. Station Voice is also present in EverQuest II and Star Wars Galaxies.

Features at Launch in EverQuest include:

-- Talk person-to-person in game with any microphone and headset combo.
-- Chat with your party, guild or any other group in game.
-- Create automatic channels for guilds, raids and groups.
-- Play and communicate without worry of a significant increase in game lag.
-- Manage group/user participation with moderator controls.
-- Individually mute and set volume per user Create automatic channels for guilds, raids and groups.
-- Set up easily without the need for separate software, accounts or registration.

(For details on Station Voice see below under the UI changes.)

- Group Merge Ability: Looking to fill the last few spaces of your group? Groups now have the ability to merge with each other without disbanding from their own group!

With this new feature, the group leader of one group can invite the group leader of another group to join his/her group. If the invitation is accepted, the two groups will merge together to form one group.

This change merely allows groups to merge without having to make everyone drop out of their current group. All other group functionality should work as it did in the past. It does not increase the six person group maximum for groups.

- Weightless Coinage: Coinage no longer adds to the weight of player characters. Adventurers all across Norrath rejoice... especially monks!

*** Items ***

- The spirit of Dain Frostreaver will be very angry if the Ancient Frostreaver or Ancient Longhandled Frostreaver are used by anyone else.
- The Skullstepper should be usable by any race that includes the classes on it. Really.

*** Spells ***

- Tears of Qandieal returns to its changed state. It now destroys the target's mana and inflicts damage based on the mana destroyed.

*** NPC ***

- A recast timer has been placed on the NPC version of Lay on Hands. The player version of this spell is not affected by this change.

*** Quest & Events ***

- The Demi-Plane version of Mayong's swipe attack will now properly ignore the top player of his hatelist.
- The lockout from Bimbalicus the Soulbleeder's event will be 4.5 days from now on.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Guild Banners will again be sustainable with only one guild member in the zone.
- Weightless Coinage: Coinage no longer adds to the weight of player characters. Adventurers all across Norrath rejoice... especially monks!
- The timer for returning to the game after going linkdead with a character has been reduced from 3 minutes to 1 minute.

*** UI ***

- Station Voice Comes to EverQuest!

- How does it work in EverQuest? -
To begin using voice chat, verify the feature is enabled by opening the Option window (Alt+O) and navigating to the Voice tab. This feature will be turned off by default.

Devices: Once Voice Chat is enabled EverQuest will attempt to connect to the correct hardware.

Push-to-talk key: Initially the voice chat system uses Ctrl+Tab as the push-to-talk key. This can be reconfigured to any available key from the Options window, Keys tab.

Output volume: Master volume for all incoming Voice Chat traffic. This setting is independent of music and sound effect volume settings. Setting this to high results in distortion of incoming speech.

Input volume: The relative sensitivity of your microphone. Turning it up means your microphone picks up quieter sounds. Setting this to high results in distortion of your outgoing speech. The sound indicator gives an estimate of the distortion. Red signifies high distortion, yellow medium distortion and green low distortion.

Testing your setup with Echo channel: The echo channel allows you to get an idea of your settings by broadcasting what you say back to you after a short delay.

- The Voice Bar -
Once Voice Chat is enabled and has successfully connected the Voice Bar will automatically be shown. The Voice Bar by default will remain active as long as voice chat is enabled. A hot key may be mapped to open and close the Voice Bar.

The Voice Bar offers a push to talk button, a list of users of the current channel, what channels are available, a link to Options, and indication of who is currently talking.

The Talk button is simply a push-to-talk button that is mouse activated instead of keypress activated.
The Voice Users button presents a list of the users of the current channel. Clicking on the speaker by any user allows you to adjust the volume of that player relative to your master volume. A particularly loud player can be turned down relative to other voice chat traffic Moderators for a channel are given additional options of muting a player for the entire channel, banning a player from the channel and kicking a player from the channel.

The channel button pulls down a menu of channels available to you. The currently selected one is shown in green if connected. Red if the connection has failed. Unselected but available channels are shown in white.

Voice chat has been integrated into some other interfaces in the game. Speaker icons show up for players that have voice chat active. The speaker icons behave as they do in the Voice Users window, giving access to Voice Chat options specific to that player.

There is currently an issue with leaving a private channel making you unable to invite someone to a new private channel. We are working on resolving this issue, but until then, logging out and back in should clear your channel status.

- Using the /voicechat Command -
The /voicechat command offers the following options:

-- on: activate voice chat (ex. /voicechat on)
-- off: deactivate voice chat
-- Moderator Controls:
-Mute <player> - mutes a player for everyone in the current channel
-Unmute <player>- unmutes a player for everyone in the current channel
-Kick <player>- kicks a player form the current channel
-Ban <player> - bans a player from the current channel and kicks them if they are present
-Unban <player> - unbans a player from current channel

*** Emergency Game Update ***

- The spell Tears of Qandieal has temporarily been reverted to its old functionality to address stability issues.  It will be returned to its new state as soon as possible.  We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

- The abacus script for Living Legacy raid rewards has been adjusted slightly to correct for a rounding error.  If you received the incorrect augment, you will need to get another abacus from Distribution Facilitator XCV, delete your earlier augment, and use the abacus again.

- We are aware of many players who received no reward at all for certain Living Legacy raids.  This is due to incorrect values placed on your character.  We will be restoring these values in a future update so that the abacus will create your reward.

*** Highlights ***

- A series of quests have been created within and around the Secrets of Faydwer expansion. See Fenden Helter in the Ladies of the Light tower for more information. These tasks include various Secrets of Faydwer faction rewards as well as a new currency that can be used to purchase items from Fenden.

- The spell information window has been changed. For buffs that are on you or your pet, you will be able to see the name of the caster, the full duration of the spell, the level required to cast the spell, the skill required to cast the spell, the mana cost of the spell, and the spell description. Non existing buff based spells will display the total duration of the spell in a new format, hours, minutes, and seconds.

- New visual indicators have been added to the buff window icons, and short duration buff window icons. Additionally, the spell counter information has been moved to facilitate the visual display of the buff timer on the respective buff icon. There have been four pieces of visual information added to the buff icons. This includes a visual indicator to show each of four possible pieces of information. The new pieces of information are Buff Timer, Buff Counters, Song Timer, and Song Counters.

- With the description changes added, all relevant counter information for BARD songs, all short duration effects, and regular buffs in either the spell window buff icon or short duration buff icon respectively will also be displayed.

- The buff icon will now display the time remaining in the form of hours (h), minutes (m), or seconds (s) whichever is greater.  This significantly reduces the amount physical space used on the icon to print out the remaining time, in effect showing more of the buff or short duration buff icon to the player.

- Several NPCS in the Barren Coast, The Buried Sea, Atiiki, Katta Castrum, and Goru'kar Mesa have been lowered in difficulty to help facilitate easier soloing for many players. These NPCs will have a special consider message to indicate they are easier than your average NPC.

*** Returning Players ***

- If you're returning to the game following a break, be sure to visit the Scholars in the northeast portion of the Plane of Knowledge. They can help guide you through the many changes to the land of Norrath over the years.

*** Items ***

- Fixed some typographical errors in a few instruction manuals.
- Ornament Mutation Tools are now available for purchase from Magus Alaria in the Guild Lobby. They can be used to permanently change Ornament items into single use Ornamentation containers.
- Secrets of Faydwer monk armor will now have the special monk appearance. Armor that monks share with other classes was unchanged.
- Added Battlerager's Strength to SoF Raid Tier 3 and 4 Berserker Class Gloves.
- Changed the colors on the Bridles of the Commanded and Ferocious Ferans to match the image on their cards.

*** Quests & Events ***

- A series of quests have been created within and around the Secrets of Faydwer expansion. See Fenden Helter in the Ladies of the Light tower for more information. These tasks include various Secrets of Faydwer faction rewards as well as a new currency that can be used to purchase items from Fenden.
- The bears in Wulfnor the Gladiator's event in Frostcrypt will once again look like bears.
- Eron in the Dragonscale Hills has figured a slightly better method for making spools of energized brownie hair. You can now make it if the denizens of the zone are nearby. It still requires that you be by the specific energy charge within the main power room, and not any of the auxiliary power rooms. Be aware that being in the energy charge is painful and not compatible with invisibility or stealth. This new method will also not work if you are lying down. You will not need to go back to him to get the new method, as he has communicated it to everyone.

*** NPC ***

- Brinda's assistant, Findlewill, has returned from a restful vacation and can now be found in the Mansion.
- Several golems have had their body type switched to Construct.
- Fixed several minor text errors on various NPCs.

- Made a change to all spells and abilities that use Fade-like functionality to no longer kill your pets, auras and familiars when the Fade-like ability is used.
- Fixed an issue causing negative focus effects to not function correctly (sorry!)
- With the changes made for displaying the spell decriptions, there may be some NPC spells that display incorrect data. We will be adjusting these descriptions at a later time. The description shoud not affect gameplay.

- Fixed various issues in the new Secrets of Faydwer tasks that start with Fenden Helter in Dragonscale Hills.

*** AA ***

- Changes have been made to the Harm Touch ability for Shadow Knights. The Ranks of Harm Touch that are purchased via AA points (and not automatically granted) will now have an immediate amount of damage as well as a Damage Over Time component. The Damage Over Time component is in addition to the damage that Harm Touch previously did. The Damage Over Time will scale along with the maximum value of the instant damage for each rank.
- Increased the duration of Pact of the Wurine AA.
- A number of AA lines that had a previously meaningless recast delay have been changed to have no recast delay. This is to address larger-than-intended returns on Heal Amount mods being applied due to how the calculations for those spells work. The AA lines changed include: Act of Valor, Hand of Piety, Lay on Hands, Mend Companion, Rejuvenate Companion, Replenish Companion, and Touch of the Divine.

*** Zones ***

- We've adjusted the fog settings in all zones to allow for better visibility.
- Adjusted pathing around the Goblin huts in the Buried Sea.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- More fixes for corpse looting problems when using /hidecorpse looted.
- Added the Background FPS slider to the Options->Display window. Allows setting the frame rate for the EQ window when it is not the foreground window. Sliding all the way to the left (the default) will use "Min. CPU" mode. Increasing this above "Min. CPU" can improve auto-follow behavior when the client is not in the foreground.
- 'alpha' and 'ralpha' added to /tracksort command.
- Added new SoF stats to the bazaar search options.
- Fixed a problem causing a client disconnect when consuming or using the last item in a stack.
- Made an optimization that will slightly improve lag in loping plains.  This is not a full fix.
- Changed the way CPU affinity assignment works so that when you have multiple clients running and exit one and restart it, you still get correct distribution of CPU assignment. Previously, this could cause both clients to be assigned to the same CPU.

*** User interface ***

- Moved the Max FPS and Max background FPS sliders to the advanced display options window.

4/17/2008

- Many keyed zones from the Ruins of Kunark, Scars of Velious, Shadows of Luclin, Planes of Power, Gates of Discord, Omens of War, Depths of Darkhollow, and Prophecy of Ro have had their key/flag requirements modified.  All players that have obtained the key/flag will still be allowed entry into the zones, as will players that have met minimum level requirements for the zones.  The zones and minimum level requirements are as follows:

- Required Level 46 -

- Required Level 72 -

- The Season of the Fabled has come to an end. The Fabled NPCs have packed up their camps and are riding off into the sunset for another year.

*** Items ***

- Added new spell drops to Meldrath's Majestic Mansion.
- Increased the drop rate slightly for some spells in Crystallos.
- Added recommended and required levels to some trade skill drops to help clarify their use. This does not change their actual use as trade skill containers do not pay attention to the recommended and required levels of items put in them.
- Added a set of new vendors that sell many of the spell research components. The cost of these have been adjusted so that they sell to an NPC closer to the price it cost to make them, but merchants will sell them at a premium.  This means that you can save money while gaining skill. Also when you make spell combines you can choose between saving money, or saving time. You save money by making the sub-combines yourself, you save time by buying them.
- Chromatic focus is now available for slot 12 augments for Cultural armor.
- The engineer steamworks that work within the guardian have developed devices that help them move within the beast.  Fortunately for adventurers they can be a bit absent minded about them and adventurers can find them lying about.
- A vial of raging heartblood is not as vile as it was previously.

*** Quests & Events ***

- Rylin Coil will now show and give all three tinkering mastery books for the tinkering mastery quest.

- Changes have been made to the way the client is notified about other entities (players, NPCs, etc.) in the zone.

- Iksar and Wood Elves should be able to increase their forage skill caps after purchasing the forage AA.

- Zone-wide /who commands now use a similar code path to server wide /who all commands.  Note that this will impose a similar time limit to how often it can be used.
- The bobbing effect of levitation has been removed.  A new effect that pushes you off the ground about a foot and a half has been introduced.
- Fixed an issue with the "Public if Usable" permission in the guild bank.

- Fixed an issue that would cause levitate to fail if a player's mount was hit by a spell (usually an aura).
- Stacks of two items in the guild bank can now be split.

*** EQPlayers Maintenance ***

- Maintenance has been performed to help improve the performance of the EQPlayers website.

4/01/2008

Note: Update:  Yes, this was an April Fool’s Day joke which was only active on April 1st.

*** Hotfix  ***

- We are continuing to receive a trickle of reports that some players are being changed into race/gender combinations that they did not request.  While this appears to only be affecting a few players, since this is a permanent change to the character and we want to play it safe, we are going to suspend the race/gender change service at this time until we can track down and fix the problem.   We have been unable to reproduce the reported problems in a testing environment so do not have an ETA on a fix.  Due to the difficulty in reproducing the problem, we anticipate that it may be several days before the service is returned.  For the few players who have been left in a state other than their requested race/gender, we apologize for the inconvenience and you will be given an opportunity to issue the command again to return to your preferred race/gender combination once the service returns.

- The EverQuest Team

4/01/2008

*** Hotfix ***

- The problems previously reported with the race/gender change service have been corrected and we are re-enabling the service at this time.  In addition, we’ve reset the system so everyone may request a fresh change even if they have previously used the system.  If you were inadvertently changed into a race or gender that you did not request, please re-issue the command to be returned to your original race/gender combination.  Again, this service will only work if you are in a static, non-instanced zone, so please be aware of your location when you issue the command.

- The EverQuest Team

4/01/2008

*** Hotfix ***

- We’ve been receiving reports from some players that their characters have been changed into a different gender or race than the one they requested.  We have identified one possible cause for this problem and will be making changes to the system to prevent this from occurring.  In the meantime, we have cleared out the request logs and temporarily suspended the service while we sort out the problems.  The service will return as soon as we have a fix out on the live servers.  Our current ETA on the return of the service is 1 hour.

- The EverQuest Team

4/01/2008

*** Highlights ***

EverQuest is pleased to announce the introduction of a new service that will allow you to permanently change the gender or race of your characters.  This is something that has been requested by players since the inception of the game, but has only recently become possible due to changes that have been made in how characters are stored.

In order to make the use of this feature as simple as possible and to allow you to request this service without leaving the game, we have added NPCs to every static (non-instanced) zone in the game that listen for the key phrase “I want to be a <race/gender>”.  All you have to do is shout your request to the zone and when the NPC hears the key phrase, they will add your request to the processing queue.  The NPCs do not currently have a way to respond to requests via the shout command, so you won’t get a response to your request.   This is something we plan to add to the system later, but we didn’t want to hold up the release of this service.

For example, if you have a female character and want to request a change to a male character, you would issue the following command:

“/shout I want to be a man”  (note: “I want to be a boy” and “I want to be a male” will also work)

The service can take compound requests which include a change to both your race and gender.  If you wanted to change your character into a female iksar, for instance, you would issue the following command:

“/shout I want to be a female iksar”

Because we are anticipating a large amount of interest in this feature and wish to prevent possible performance problems that might occur, the servers are being limited to processing only a certain number of requests at a time and each character will only be allowed to change one time.  Once your character has been changed, subsequent requests will be ignored.  During heavy request times, it may take up to 24 hours before your request is processed.  If your request hasn’t been processed within 24 hours, please reissue the command, ensure you are in a static, non-instanced, zone, and make sure that you have spelled the name of the race/gender properly when you do so.

Important Note:  Once the service has been requested, it cannot be altered and the change to your character is permanent.  GMs are not able to assist with reversals, so please be absolutely sure about your decision before requesting the change.  Changes to your race may alter your faction standings, so please be careful when exploring the world right after a race change.

Enjoy,

- The EverQuest Team

*** Hotfix ***

Based on player feedback, we made a few improvements to the following existing raid encounters:

Lethar and Selay Raid: We made tuning changes to the Lethar and Selay raid in TSS including:

  • Increased the tether range on Selay slightly
  • Modified the rate at which Selay fires off her AEs to avoid her casting an AE at the same time Lethar does for the most part (although it may still happen once in a while!)
  • Selay will now follow Lethar when he moves from location to location to avoid having her tether just because he moved

Crystallos Raids:
We made some tuning adjustments to Crystallos Raids including:

  • Fixed a reset issue with the Halls of Fire raid in the Fire Wing
  • Fixed a reset issue with the Keeper of Stones event. Also changed the Adds in the event to spawn in a more physically spaced out manner so they don’t all come at the raid at the exact same time.
  • We made a tuning change to the Kildrukaun the Prophet raid. We added a new mechanic to the event. Enjoy!
  • Made various tuning changes to the Vyskudra event. The stormrider drakes have had their offense values lowered and will react differently to mezmerization spells than they previously did.
  • Made various tuning changes to the Ice Constructs event in the Ice wing. The Ice Constructs should be easier to kill but now have additional mechanics.

- Added Required levels to the Enchant Palladium and Enchant Dwerium scrolls. This does not alter how they work, it just clarifies the abilities.

- Fixed the spelling of Runed Scroll of Pestilence.
- Changed the weight of the spell research kit to 4.0.
- Removed fire focus effects from SoF Shadowknight armor and cold focus effects from SoF Necromancer armor due to their limited utility for those classes.

*** Spells ***

- Wearing an item with the Servitor of Scale focus will now work correctly while also wearing an item with the Spire Servant focus.

*** Quests & Events ***

- Made a change to the Bargangle fight that should prevent him from staying hidden inside his bedroom. Called him a coward a few times, that seems to have riled him up.

*** Tasks ***

- The "Gathering the Essence" lines in Crystallos have been changed so you can collect the items before you accept the task and still get credit for them.
- Altered a few of the tradeskill trophy tasks to use some slightly less annoying steps. Pottery will make Fine Shaped Potion Vial's instead of Bola Weights. Tailoring will replace Etched Scale Stock Whip with Rough Leather Gorget Template, Concussive Bola with Pristine Leather Tunic Template, and Robe of Haunted Dreams with Fine Silk Robe Template. *** AA ***

*** Important Note about Pre-Orders ***

If you Pre-Ordered EverQuest Secrets of Faydwer from the Station Store, here’s some important information you’ll need to note.
Read the details.

*** Secrets of Faydwer ***

Welcome to EverQuest Secrets of Faydwer, the 14th expansion for EverQuest!

The clockwork armies of the evil gnomish necromancer Meldrath the Malignant gather in the Steamfont Mountains, awaiting his order to invade the kingdom of Ak'Anon. The launch of his great air fortress Mechanotus has torn open the earth, exposing new paths into unexplored regions of the ancient continent of Faydwer.

Rediscover Faydwer as you adventure in the nearby Loping Plains, home to the soul eating wereorcs of Bloodmoon Keep. Strive to end the torment of humans and elves cursed for centuries in the Hills of Shade. All the while, an ancient menace stirs east of the Dragonscale Hills, where the prismatic dragon Kerafyrm the Awakened plans his revenge.

Level Cap Increase: Players can now achieve level 80. New high level item sets, new Alternate Advancement ability lines, and new spells will come with this increase, including a new AA that grants a new spell slot.

Heroic Items: One aspect of player power is based on the seven physical and mental attributes of their characters: Agility, Charisma, Dexterity, Intelligence, Stamina, Strength, and Wisdom.  For player characters that have reached the maximums for these attributes, equipping normal items with increased attributes offers no benefit.  Heroic Items feature particular stats that allow players to go beyond those maximums.  For each point in a heroic stat, the player gains one point in the statistic and the maximum on that statistic is increased by one point.  In addition, heroic stats offer benefits beyond the normal statistics.

- Heroic Intelligence: For intelligence-based casters, increases mana pool, mana regen, and the maximum amount of mana regen a character can have.

- Heroic Wisdom: For wisdom-based casters, increases mana pool, mana regen, and the maximum amount of mana regen a character can have.

- Heroic Strength: Increases endurance pool, endurance regen, and the maximum amount of endurance regen a character can have.  Also increases damage done by melee attacks and improves the bonus granted to armor class while using a shield.

- Heroic Stamina: Increases hit point pool, hit point regen, and the maximum amount of hit point regen a character can have.  Also increases endurance pool, endurance regen, and the maximum amount of endurance regen a character can have.

- Heroic Agility: Increases endurance pool, endurance regen, and the maximum amount of endurance regen a character can have.  Also increases the chance to dodge an attack, grants a bonus to defense skill, and reduces falling damage.

- Heroic Dexterity: Increases endurance pool, endurance regen, and the maximum amount of endurance regen a character can have.  Also increases damage done by ranged attacks, improves chance to successfully assassinate or headshot, and improves the chance to riposte, block, and parry incoming attacks.

- Heroic Charisma: Improves reaction rolls with some NPCs and increases the amount of faction you gain or lose when faction is adjusted.

New Content: There are 15 new realms for adventurers to explore including Meldrath's maniacal Fortress Mechanotus, the Dragonscale Hills, the Loping Plains, and Kerafyrm's Lair: Crystallos. Travel through Faydwer solo or with groups to complete new quests, tasks, events, and raids and to acquire new items, spells, tradeskill recipes, abilities, and more.

*** Live Highlights ***

Book of Legends: The Book of Legends, a tome that holds the record of those who have come together to celebrate EverQuest at the SOE Fan Faires, now lives in the library within Plane of Knowledge.

New Loot All Options: "Loot All" functionality has been added to corpses. This includes a "Loot All" button on the loot window and the ability to shift-right-click loot a corpse.

AC Mitigation Improvements: We modified the AC Caps and over-cap returns for mitigation for all classes to bring them more in line with their intended ability to mitigate damage. Warriors, Paladins, Shadowknights, Clerics, and Monks received a minor increase in their mitigation ability. Rangers, Bards, Rogues, Shaman, Beastlords, and Berserkers received a moderate increase in their mitigation ability. Druids, Necromancers, Wizards, Enchanters, and Magicians received a considerable increase in their mitigation ability.

Fog Rendering System Enhancements: An entirely new fog rendering system has been implemented in the EverQuest graphics engine. This new system is used in all zones that currently have fog.

Multi-core CPU Support: If you have a Multi-core CPU you no longer have to manually set their processor affinity! EverQuest will automatically assign itself to an available core. If you run multiple copies of the client, each new copy running will assign itself to the next available core. Those interested in customizing which core or cores EverQuest clients run on, check the forums.

*** Recently Reported Issues ***

While some of the other issues that were resolved in this update were reported via bug reports, here are a few we'd like to highlight.

Issue: West Display Bug
Summary: When you face west the video geometry disappears except the UI and the Sky. When you face another direction the issue goes away. Normally this is only fixed by doing a reboot of your PC or reloading EQ.
Status:  We have made a change that should reduce the chances of the "west bug" occurring; unfortunately the change requires us to turn off some optimizations. If you want to disable this workaround, please add the following line to your eqclient.ini: DisableWestBugFix=1 (The EQ team would like to thank Community Member Strommmm for his feedback on helping us with this issue.)

Issue: Solteris Instability
Summary: Some people have reported that the Solteris raid zone continuously crashes during raids.
Status: Optimizations have been put in place to improve stability. We will continue to monitor the status of this zone and other instanced zones.

*** Items ***

- Prestidigitase, Staurolite, Harmonagate and Taaffeite have been modified to work in the new jewelcraft system. They will also continue to work in their original fashion if you prefer the jewelry made that way.
- Improved damage on some high end hand-to-hand weapons
- Improved damage on several 2 handed weapons
- New item modifiers are available in Secrets of Faydwer zones:
 - Damage Shield Mitigation: Reduces the amount of damage taken from damage shields on your opponent.
 - Heal Amount: Increases healing spells by the total amount of the modifier.  This is a base value that is scaled to the casting time of the spell so quick casting spells get less and longer casting spells get more.
 - Spell Damage:  Increases damaging spells by the total amount of the modifier.  This is a base value that is scaled to the casting time of the spell so quick casting spells get less and longer casting spells get more.
 - Clairvoyance: Gives a chance to gain mana equal to the total amount of the modifier when casting spells.

*** Spells ***

- Lesser Summon Corpse, Summon Corpse, Conjure Corpse, and Exhumer's Call have had their scribe-levels lowered for shadowknights.
- The Bewilderment line now has an improved resistance modifier.
- Player animations when using various AE spells and combat abilities now display properly.
- The protection granted from Shielding Thunder now stacks with Weapon Shield Discipline.
- The Consecrate Ground line now has a chance to root undead NPCs that enter the aura's area of effect.
- Recast timers on many mage summon item spells such as the Phantom Armor line, Aenda's Trinkets line, and Armaments line were removed.
- Necromancer pet haste now bestows strength and a damage mod.  Upgrades to the line should be improvements under all situations.
- NPC casters will no longer auto-learn Dispel-type player spells.
- The Decrepit Skin, Ward of Tunare, and Skin of the Reptile lines are now limited by the number of heals / runes bestowed to the buffed player instead of number of hits scored against the buffed player.  The number of "procs" should be relatively the same, but no longer random.  These spells will scale down in effectiveness against lower level NPCs.
- Beam of Solteris and Hail of Arrows now have a hit limit of 8 targets.
- The cleric group complete healing spell "Word of Redemption" now mimics Complete Heal in that it heals for 7500 and cannot be focused.
- Single-target fire, ice, and magic instant cast spells from TSS and SoF now share the same recast timer.  The recast delay on Cloudburst has been decreased so it can be chained.  The Cloudburst line is now more damaging but less efficient than the - Flashfires and Cold Snap lines.  Recourses from these instant cast spells now bestow a short-duration buff that applies a damage increase to the next spell with a 3 second cast time or more.  Most other wizard direct damage spells have had their cast times nearly halved and had this time applied to the reuse delay, allowing the use of 2-3 direct damage spells in the time that would previously be required to cast one.

*** Tradeskills ***

- There is a new level 80 cultural armor set for all races and level 75 and 80 cultural symbol sets. New quests can be found for level 75 and level 80 quests.  Additionally there are new cultural raid augments to go with the cultural armor for the Serpent's Spine, the Buried Sea, and Secrets of Faydwer.
- Jewelry Making has evolved to a new method. Now jewelry makers will make base pieces of jewelry and gems that can be put in this jewelry for different effects.  This will allow people to get jewelry customized for their needs.
- Practitioners of spell research will no longer need to use runes, words and pages.  Instead, they can use the systematic spell research system to make all spells previously made with these materials.
- Within one of the newly discovered areas of Faydwer you will be able to find a gnome who wants a measure of revenge.
- A discovery has been made and now Gem Studded Chains are less difficult to make.

*** AA ***

- Harm Touch and Lay on Hands have been reworked. Changes to how these abilities work will enable us to more easily adjust and tune these abilities. The primary change you will notice is that both of these abilities have been changed from innate skills to the AA system. For the first 10 ranks of these new AAs you will automatically gain the next rank as you level up - you won't need to purchase the AAs. Starting at level 51 you can continue to increase the power of your ability by purchasing new ranks of AAs. These roughly correspond to some of the previous AAs that existed for either ability.

All previous functionality for these abilities has been turned off. All AAs based on focusing these abilities have either been refunded and replaced with new AAs or have been modified to work with the new abilities.

- Refunded the Harm Touch AAs as part of the changes to how Harm Touch operates.
- Refunded the AA "Improved Lay on Hands" as part of the changes to how Lay on Hands functions.
